IQRA has no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no trackers. Apart from your location, which is used to look up the weather and your city’s name, what you put into it stays on your phone, and the app only goes online to fetch content, never to report on you.

Overview
This policy explains how IQRA (“the app”), made by RZ TechStudios (“we”, “us”), handles information. It applies to the IQRA app on Android and iOS, including IQRA’s home-screen widgets on Android. It does not cover this website, which has its own practices.
The short version: IQRA has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no trackers, and we run no backend for it; the one thing it fetches from us is a public file on this website. Everything you enter stays on your device, except your location, which is used as explained under Location. The app goes online only to fetch content: weather, your city’s name, Quran recitation, translations, hadith collections and app updates. Your city’s name is looked up by your phone’s operating system, not by IQRA itself. None of IQRA’s own requests say who you are.
We do not sell, rent or share your personal information. IQRA never sends us anything you have entered. When it checks for essential updates, our website host (Vercel) sees the IP address of that request as part of serving the file; we do not use it to identify anyone.
02
What IQRA stores on your device
IQRA keeps the following in the app’s private storage on your phone. None of it is sent to us, and we have no way to see it.
- Your location and city
- Prayer times, the Qibla direction, and your city shown at the top of the app.
- Settings
- Theme, language, prayer calculation method, madhab and reminder times.
- Dhikr log and your own adhkar
- The tasbih counter, its history and the per-dhikr statistics.
- Salah and fasting trackers
- Your record of prayers and fasts.
- Zakat
- Payments you record, your haul date, and the Zakat calculator’s figures — kept until you tap Reset, so a calculation can be finished later.
- Quran
- Bookmarks, reading position, reader settings, and your memorisation (hifz) plans and revision schedule.
- Hadith
- Narrations you save and where you left off reading.
- Home shortcuts
- The shortcuts you pin to the home screen.
- Downloaded content
- Recitation audio, translations and hadith collections you chose to download. This is public text and audio, not information about you.
- App housekeeping
- A copy of the data the widgets display, the result of the update check, and (on Android) a count of app opens used to time a single review request.
Uninstalling IQRA deletes all of it.
03
Location
IQRA asks for permission to use your device’s precise location. It is used to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction, and to show your city. Your coordinates are saved on your device so the app works without asking again; your phone’s operating system turns them into the city or region name you see.
Location is optional. If you decline, IQRA keeps working without weather and without detecting your location automatically. You can grant or withdraw the permission at any time in your phone’s settings.
Your location leaves your device in two ways:
- The weather lookup described below. IQRA sends your coordinates rounded to about 5 km, never your exact position.
- Your city’s name. When you set or update your location, your phone’s operating system sends your precise coordinates to its geocoding service, which returns the city or region name. That service is Apple’s on iPhone and iPad, and usually Google’s on Android. The request is made by the operating system, not by IQRA’s own code, and only at that moment, never in the background.
IQRA never links your location to your identity, never uses it for advertising and never uses it to track you. Apple’s and Google’s handling of the city-name request is covered by their own privacy policies, linked below.
04
When IQRA connects to the internet
IQRA reaches the network in the seven situations below; the city-name lookup is made for it by your phone’s operating system. Each one is a request for content or an update, not a report about you, and none of IQRA’s own requests contains an account, a name or a device identifier. As with any internet request, the server that answers can see your device’s IP address. For the essential-update check, that server belongs to our website host, Vercel, which sees the IP address as part of serving the file; we do not use it to identify anyone.
01Weather
Open-Meteo ·
api.open-meteo.com- When
- To show the temperature and conditions next to prayer times. Results are reused for about 30 minutes rather than fetched repeatedly.
- Sends
- Your coordinates, rounded to about 5 km. No key and no account.
02City name
Apple (iOS) / Google (Android)
- When
- When you set or update your location.
- Sends
- Your precise coordinates, sent by your phone’s operating system.
03Quran recitation
Islamic Network CDN ·
cdn.islamic.network- When
- Only when you play or download a recitation.
- Sends
- The reciter and the verse number.
04Quran translations
AlQuran.cloud ·
api.alquran.cloud- When
- Only when you choose a translation other than the built-in Saheeh International. Each translation is downloaded once, then read offline.
- Sends
- The name of the translation — never which verse you are reading.
05Hadith collections
jsDelivr ·
cdn.jsdelivr.net- When
- Only when you download a collection. Browsing, reading and search are offline afterwards.
- Sends
- The collection, language and book number. A whole book is fetched at a time, so the request cannot reveal which narration you read.
06App updates
Expo (EAS Update) ·
u.expo.dev- When
- Once when the app starts, in the background. It never delays opening the app.
- Sends
- Your platform (Android or iOS), the app’s runtime version and release channel, and the ID of the update already installed. No location and no usage data.
07Essential-update check
RZ TechStudios, served by Vercel ·
www.rztechstudios.com- When
- At most once per app session, to find out whether your installed version has been withdrawn and must be updated from the store.
- Sends
- Nothing beyond the request for one public file, which is identical for everyone, plus a cache-busting number that is the same for every device in the same 5-minute window. Your app version is compared on your device, not sent.
Except for the essential-update check, which is served from our own website, these services are run by others and we have no access to their records. Their own privacy policies are linked where they publish one. For the update check, we have added no analytics, logging or log forwarding. Vercel’s dashboard shows us requests to our website from the past hour only, the limit of our hosting plan, and we do not copy or keep them. Anything Vercel itself retains is covered by its privacy policy.
05
What IQRA does not collect
- Your name, email address, phone number or contacts.
- Any account or sign-in — there is none.
- Advertising IDs or device identifiers used for tracking.
- Usage analytics, crash reports or other telemetry.
- Your photos. IQRA does not ask for access to your photo library.
- Your clipboard. IQRA only ever writes to it, when you tap to copy something — it never reads what you have copied elsewhere.
- Payment details. IQRA has no in-app purchases, no subscription and no card entry.
07
Backups
On Android, IQRA opts out of Android’s automatic cloud backup, so your data is not silently copied to your Google account. Moving your data is always your decision, made with the backup file above.
When you restore a backup, IQRA reads only the file you pick in the system file picker. The file is checked field by field, and anything it does not recognise is ignored.
08
Home-screen widgets (Android)
Widgets show information the app already holds, such as prayer times, today’s readings and your trackers. IQRA keeps a copy of that information in its private storage for the widgets to read. Widgets never connect to the internet.
The Salah, Fasting and Tasbih widgets can record an entry when you tap them, without opening the app. They write to the same on-device records the app uses and nowhere else. The Qibla widget shows a fixed direction worked out from your saved location; it does not use your location live.
09
Permissions
- Location
- Asked for in the app, and optional. Used as described above.
- Vibration (Android)
- For haptic feedback, such as each count on the tasbih. It reads nothing.
- Run at startup (Android)
- Lets the widgets reschedule their prayer-time updates after your phone restarts. It raises no prompt and reads nothing.
10
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. You can also:
- Delete a downloaded translation in Quran Settings.
- Delete a downloaded hadith collection in Settings → Daily readings → Downloaded collections, or from the Hadith section.
- Clear the Zakat calculator with Reset.
- Delete any backup files you have exported, wherever you saved them.
Because we hold none of the data you enter in IQRA, there is nothing for us to look up, correct or delete on request. You are still welcome to contact us with any question.
11
Security
- Your data is kept in the app’s private storage, which other apps cannot read on a phone that has not been rooted or jailbroken.
- App updates are cryptographically signed, and IQRA refuses to run an update that we did not sign.
- Downloaded translations are checked against a fingerprint recorded when the app was built, and hadith collections come from a fixed version, so the text you read cannot be changed without a new app release.
- Backup files are not encrypted — that is what lets you open and keep them yourself. Treat them like any document containing your location.
12
Children
IQRA does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. It has no accounts, no advertising and no way to contact other users.
13
Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA give you the right to access, correct, delete or take a copy of your personal data, and to object to how it is used. With IQRA you can exercise these directly: everything IQRA stores is on your device, the backup file gives you a complete and readable copy, and uninstalling the app deletes it. We do not sell or share personal information.
14
Changes to this policy
If a change to IQRA affects how it handles information — for example a new online service — we will update this policy and the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
